Fitness for many is a lifestyle and eating healthy and looking their best is a goal for many. While not everyone may share the same enthusiasm or may not be as dedicated as a fitness influencer, most, if not all want instant results, whilst avoiding injuries. In today's blog, we have compiled a list of 5 important tips for beginners to keep in mind when they start their fitness journey.
Assess your goals:
Take a good look at yourself and assess whether you want to lose weight, burn fat, and gain lean muscle, or you are skinny and just want to pack on some mass. Once you've got that in place, you need to prepare a workout and nutrition plan that goes along with your goals. If losing weight is your goal, then a diet with a caloric deficit of 200-300 Calories will be ideal. If gaining weight and muscle is your goal then adding 200-300 calories to your daily diet will be highly beneficial.
Consistency over intensity:
If you've just started working out, then it's normal to feel excited about this new journey. But before that, you must focus on being consistent, as opposed to increasing the intensity. Intensity can be built over a good foundation, but to build a strong base, you must learn to be consistent with everything from working out, to nutrition and even your sleep.
Master your compound lifts:
Compound lifts offer the most value for your workout, as they activate and hit multiple muscle groups all at once. Focus on the 3 big movements ie Squats, Deadlifts, and Benchpress, and prioritize form over increasing the weights, as you are looking to get your fundamentals right, as opposed to cranking on the weight without planning for the future.
Don't compare yourself to others:
The gym is flooded with people from all walks of life, some who work a 9-5 schedule, some college goers, and some who make a living off being fit. You need to assess your goals, without comparing yourself to others. You might envy the ripped guy or girl at the gym, but understand that it took them years of hard work and dedication to get there. You must understand and accept your limitations as a beginner and keep in mind that Rome wasn't built in a day.
Find a workout buddy:
For some, working out is a way of de-stressing, and enjoy working out alone, while for others, it seems like a task that's too boring to complete all alone. If you are among the latter, then finding a workout buddy would be of massive help, as not only would you find someone who keeps you on your toes and motivates and spots you, but you can also make your working out session more of a social activity.
If you have set your mind to getting into shape and feeling good about yourself, then you need to get off on the right foot. Fitness requires commitment and dedication, and you must hold yourself accountable for whatever you do throughout the day. For more such fitness and lifestyle tips do keep following us.
