Gone are the days where cardiac issues were seen in the older population alone. In today's times, sadly, the number of youngsters falling prey to heart-related illnesses is on the rise, even among those who work out regularly and are in good shape. So what's causing these issues? Lets take a look.
Smoking:
One of the worst things that you can do to your heart is lighting up a cigarette. Puffing on this cancer stick not only causes you to lose stamina but affects your internal organs as well. Smoking among youngsters is pretty common and it puts them at a high risk of developing cardiac issues at a young age.
Stress:
Be it long working hours, preparing a presentation to a client, and lack of sleep, causes a rise in cortisol levels in the body, but thats not all. Studies show that stress can lead to elevated blood pressure levels even among youngsters, which puts them at risk of getting a paralytic stroke, cardiac arrest just to name
a few health issues.
Junk food:
How many times have you overindulged in junk food? Or how many times have you eaten out? The problem with junk foods is that they are loaded with trans fats and sodium; one causes cardiac issues, while the other causes a rise in blood pressure. There's a reason why home-cooked food is the best, as you have complete control over the ingredients and the portion as well. When in doubt, always pick home-cooked food.
Alcohol:
Consuming a drink or two occasionally is fine, but many of our youngsters have fallen victim to alcohol abuse. Alcohol abuse not only places tremendous stress on one's liver and kidneys but in the long run can lead to liver cirrhosis, type 2 diabetes, and a whole host of other health complications. If you are someone who enjoys his/her drink, then keep these sessions far and few and also limit the number of drinks you consume.
