Health drinks are extremely popular in India, especially among parents who want to provide their kids with the best nutrition possible. While they may be under the impression that these healthy drinks are good for their children, the reality couldn't be farther from the truth. And in all honesty, you can't blame them, as these health brands have one of the best marketing tactics at their disposal, by using terms like fortified with vitamins and minerals, immune-boosting properties, high protein, and whatnot. Their claims are further strengthened when they sign on popular sports personalities that are paid millions to advertise what's claimed by them.
So what's in these health drinks:
Most of these health drinks come loaded with high amounts of sucrose, which is another word for table sugar. By using technical terms, these companies use clever marketing tactics to distort the truth. As seen in many of these health drinks, as much as 65% of the primary ingredient is sugar. So how exactly is it healthy for your kid then?
Just one serving of this sugary concoction is enough to put your kid's blood sugar on a rollercoaster ride. Not only are you setting up your kid for possible health issues such as diabetes and obesity, but you also end up depriving them of much-needed protein, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats that are essential for their growth.
You can, instead, opt for healthier options such as protein cookies when your child returns home from school, tuition, or once he/she is done playing with friends. Not only are these protein cookies healthier, but they are also delicious, and your kids will look forward to munching on them, whilst helping them to hit their daily protein intake.
